Move your email from Purelymail to FranklyMail
Purelymail needs nothing special: the mailbox password works over IMAP as it is. The one thing to get right is the username, which must be the full address rather than the part before the @.
Which password Purelymail wants
The mailbox’s own password — no app password, nothing to enable. One exception: if you have turned on two-factor authentication, IMAP needs an app password instead, because the mail server has no way to ask you for a code.
Getting it, step by step.
Written against Purelymail's current screens — the words in quotes are the words on the buttons.
If you would rather skip the menus: https://purelymail.com/manage/users opens the right screen directly, in whatever language your account is set to.
- 1
If two-factor is off, there is nothing to fetch. Use the mailbox password you already have and skip to the import form.
- 2
Otherwise sign in at purelymail.com/manage — the account portal, not webmail.
- 3
Open the users list and select the mailbox you are moving.
Purelymail separates the account from its users. The account is billing and settings; each user is a mailbox with its own login, and it is the user’s credential the import needs.
- 4
In the App Passwords section, click "Add New", give it a name, and copy the password it shows.
- 5
Paste it into the import form.
It is displayed once and never again. Spaces inside it are ignored, so a pasted value with gaps still works.
What to put in the import form.
In the FranklyMail panel, open Mailboxes and find "Bring your old mail across".
imap.purelymail.com- IMAP server
imap.purelymail.com- Port
- 993 — TLS from the first byte.
- Username
- Your full address at Purelymail, not just the part before the @.
- Password
- Your mailbox password, from the steps above.
For the technically curious: on 24 August 2026 this server answered AUTH=PLAIN to a CAPABILITY command on port 993. That is what it accepts on the wire; which password it accepts from you is the separate question the section above answers.
What goes wrong with Purelymail.
- The username must be the full address — you@yourdomain.com, not you. This is the single most common Purelymail login failure and it looks identical to a wrong password.
- An app password cannot sign in to the management portal or change your password. That is deliberate, and it means one leaking is much less serious than your real password leaking.
Then the part that is the same for everyone.
Getting the password is the only step that differs by provider. The order of the move, what does and does not come across, and the one decision that stops you ending up with two copies of every message are on the main migration page.
