Move your email from Migadu to FranklyMail
The mailbox password works directly — no app password. The trap is Migadu’s identities: they are extra addresses on the same mailbox, not separate ones, so importing each of them copies the same mail several times.
Which password Migadu wants
The password you set on the mailbox in Migadu’s admin panel. There is no app password to generate and nothing to switch on for a standard mailbox.

Sign in to admin.migadu.com and open the domain, then Mailboxes.

Pick the mailbox you are moving and use its own password. If you do not know it, set a new one here.
Use a mailbox, not an identity. See the warning below — this is the one thing worth getting right on Migadu.

Check that IMAP access is permitted for that mailbox while you are on the page.
Migadu can disable IMAP per mailbox. It is on for ordinary mailboxes, so this is a glance rather than a step — we have not printed the exact wording of the control because the admin panel is behind a login and we could not verify it.

In the import form, use imap.migadu.com and the full address as the username.
What to put in the import form.
In the FranklyMail panel, open Mailboxes and find "Bring your old mail across".

For the technically curious: on 24 August 2026 this server answered AUTH=PLAIN to a CAPABILITY command on port 993. That is what it accepts on the wire; which password it accepts from you is the separate question the section above answers.
What goes wrong with Migadu.
- Identities are not separate mailboxes. Migadu lets you attach extra addresses to one mailbox, and signing in as any of them reaches the same stored mail. Import once per mailbox — importing each identity would copy the same messages again for every address on it.
- The server is always imap.migadu.com. Your own domain goes in the username, never in the server field, which catches people who expect mail.theirdomain.com.
- Migadu’s own migration guide warns that a large mailbox can take hours or days to copy. That is the protocol, not either provider.
Then the part that is the same for everyone.
